The Pipeline Industries Guild Irish Branch and IGEM Irish Section jointly present a webinar presentation by Ibar Murphy of Fingleton White on the Sligo Local Gas Network (SLGN) and the associated virtual pipeline.

The Sligo Local Gas Network (SLGN) project has developed as a means to decarbonise Sligo’s large energy users, across all sectors, currently reliant on carbon intensive Oil and LPG for energy demand.

The proposed Satellite Gas Network and Virtual Pipeline would address the existing regional disparity in terms of access to Natural Gas, leading to the uptake of Combined Heat & Power (CHP) technology and maturing Renewable Gas markets (Anaerobic Digestion).

Fingleton White have developed a Preliminary Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for the network with a focus on the following key areas:

•             Forecast of potential thermal energy demand

•             Pipeline route options assessment

•             Decanting facility location assessment

•             Fuel supply options assessment

•             Financial appraisal

This presentation outlines the methodology used by Fingleton White and the key findings of the study.
