The Pipeline Industries Guild are delighted to announce that this year’s lecture will be delivered by the Chief Executive of Wessex Water, Colin Skellett - Reflections on an ever-changing industry.

Colin Skellett is a scientist and engineer by training and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.  He has worked largely in the water industry and was appointed Chief Executive in 1988.  He took the company through privatisation creating a business that consistently delivers the highest environmental and customer service performance within the industry.

Colin is currently Group Chief Executive of the Wessex Water/YTL UK Group, Chair of the YTL Land and Property UK and Chair of YTL's UK hotels.  He is also non-executive Chair of European Connoisseurs Travel, Chair of the Merchants' Academy schools, as well as a Director of Business West, Bristol.

He has had non-executive roles in rail, travel and international infrastructure businesses, served on the Board of the South West Regional Development Agency and is involved with a number of charities.  Colin was also Chair of the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership from 2011 until the beginning of 2016.

Colin was appointed Chair of Visit Bath in April 2020.  He has previously chaired the Initiative for Bath & North East Somerset, Future Bath Plus and was a member of Bath Festivals Board.  Colin is also Chair of the Gainsborough Bath Spa Hotel and Thermae Bath Spa.

Colin was awarded an OBE for services to business and WaterAid in the 2012 Queen's Birthday Honours and has Honorary Doctorates in Engineering from the Universities of the West of England and Bristol.
