Award Winner's Webinar: Artificial Intelligent Inspection for Electrofusion of PE Pipelines

Registration is closed for this event
We are delighted to have the Winner from the 2020 Awards, Wez Little of ControlPoint will speak about their winning entry, Artificial Inspection for Polyethylene joints. This award was introduced in 1996 and is made annually for the most significant contribution made to land-based pipeline technology or its ancillary apparatus. The objective of the award is similarly to promote the development of new ideas in the general field of land-based pipeline technology.

Developed In-house over the last few years, ControlPoint has been training a cloud-based inspection robot, to review photographic images sent by operatives during the preparation of an electrofusion joint.

The driver for this, was to take the ‘right fist time’ approach to the next level. In that the AI system looks for clamping, scraping and cleanliness of a joint critically before the weld takes place.

This is a ground-breaking step for the pipeline industry eliminating three of the most common causes of early life failure of electrofusion joints.

Wez Little and Andy Killer will cover the development, the challenges, and the benefits.  This system is already in use within both the water and gas sector.
