H2 & CCUS Industry Collaborative Workshop

The Guild are delighted to be co-supporting this supply chain led workshop on the theme of getting ready for ‘H2-CCUS’ is proposed. It should focus on the key challenges of building new higher pressure (transmission) infrastructure/ assets, with some discussion around modifications, rather than operating and maintaining re-purposed assets.

In partnership with IGEM (Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers) and ICW (Institute for Collaborative Working), The Pipeline Industries Guild is supporting an industry-led initiative to de-risk several of the practical and logistical challenges the pipeline industry faces in helping to enable the UK’s net zero energy future.

There has been almost no significant capital infrastructure built in the UK for well over fifteen years and so consequently there is now a significant capacity challenge of providing the skills, knowledge and experienced personnel, let alone the equipment and materials, to meet the scale of the schemes being proposed. This represents an opportunity as well as a threat but one which a liberalised and highly competitive supply chain market is not well placed to own, requiring a different more collaborative approach.

A reception is being held at Ansty Hall, near Coventry on the evening of the 4th Oct and a round table workshop is being held on the 5th Oct at nearby MTC.

This event aims to tackle these industry challenges to de-risk the energy transition from a buildability and modifications perspective and to ensure the government’s intentions, to use local content where possible to build the energy infrastructure of the future, may be realised. We want to come away with some tangible industry collective/ collaborative means of resolving the key issues. It’s partly educational (but aimed at an operations executive audience) but with a call to action to join forces to seek the funding required to ensure local content as well as industry ways of working can be developed in time for building phases.

Members interested in participating in the event should contact tim.roff@unitedliving.co.uk

An opportunity to hear more about the event and to get actively involved in follow-on initiatives will be made available through The Guild and its Net Zero Panel.
