Webinar: Does API 14.1 Allow NGLs to be Exported For Free?

The Pipeline Industries Guild invite you to join the Managing Director Paul Stockwell of Process Vision.

It is important that gas analysis systems are presented with a representative gas sample from the gas pipelines. While two-phase flow in sales quality gas is considered a fault condition, new technology is revealing that, in many cases, mixed-phase flow is present in the form of a mist flow or stratified flow while the hydrocarbon and water dewpoint would indicate that the gas is dry. We will share videos of real-world installations showing that many gas processors are giving away Btus in the form of NGLs without knowing it.

To detect liquids in dry gas streams, gas processors monitor water and hydrocarbon dewpoints. Unfortunately, data from new camera systems has revealed that these monitors frequently miss fault conditions and allow liquids to pass through custody transfer points without tripping alarms. In many cases, gas processors are unknowingly losing Btus in the form of natural gas liquids. This webinar will explore the reasons behind these findings and aspects of API 14.1 that are allowing liquids to pass into gas transmission networks that lead to $ms of lost revenue on the supply side, increased operational costs on the pipeline side and pose serious safety threats.

The two fiscal measurements of flow and calorific value are compromised when liquids are present in gas streams. With our ability to look directly into high-pressure gas pipelines, using process cameras, this webinar describes how this new technology is discovering that phase separation and NGL recovery systems are not necessarily performing to specification.
