Award Winner's Webinar: ‘Telesto’ 3D LiDAR Modelling of Tunnels in Semi-Turbulent Flow

Registration is closed for this event
This Award, introduced in 2003, is made for the most significant contribution to the Utility Pipeline Technology. The objective is to promote the development of new ideas in the general field of Utility Pipeline Technology. We are delighted to have the Winners from the 2020 Awards, Dr Jameel Marafie and Dr Puneet Chhabra of Headlight AI speak about their winning entry and collaboration with Wessex Water and Bright Innovations Group.

‘Telesto’ is a multi-sensor artificial intelligence (AI) survey platform to model 3D underground assets in semi-turbulent flow, over long distances. It removes the necessity for personnel to enter underground sewers and river tunnels etc., improving H&S, and goes beyond the capabilities of CCTV and laser profiling solutions, providing 3D point clouds and location information at reduced cost compared with traditional surveying solutions.

In this Webinar we will introduce both the Telesto hardware and software, highlighting how it uses both traditional and AI-based approaches. We will provide a case study showing the collaboration between the 3 companies (Wessex Water, Bright Innovations Group, and Headlight AI), and how the system has developed since its inception, along with the current version’s benefits and limitations. We will also present our view on what the future holds for this technology and how it can be used to rapidly increase the volume of underground assets surveyed annually and how this can transform Utilities’ predictive maintenance and rehabilitation programmes.
