The Thames Tideway Tunnel is a major new sewer, urgently needed to protect the tidal River Thames from pollution. Beneath the heart of London, at 25 kilometres long, up to 65 metres deep, and more than seven
metres in diameter, it is the biggest infrastructure project ever undertaken by the UK water industry.
Colin Murphy, engineering manager for Tideway’s west contract will present an overview of the project background and development. He will discuss the critical aspects of this large-scale project and the unique challenges faced by this world leading project.
