After having presented the different tape production processes (Coextrusion - Lamination) and their impacts on the intrinsic material properties, this presentation is comparing the chemistry and the basic properties of the different materials used for cold applied polymeric tapes:
- PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)
- PE (Polyethylene)
- Bitumen (mix of hydrocarbons & polymers)
- Butyl rubber
A particular focus is given to the suitability of those materials for use in pipelines corrosion prevention tapes with analyses and clarifications of the ageing properties of each material and their influences on the behaviour of the coating long-term performances.
