Scottish Branch: Carron Trophy - Call for Entries
Your chance to win the Carron Trophy and ***£250*** for the winner and ***£100*** for runner up.

simply submit a 200 word synopsis to Stuart Sherlock, stuart.sherlock@sgn.co.uk by no later than Friday 30th April 2021
Entries will then be assessed, and successful finalists will be invited to present at the competition regional final on Tuesday 18th May 2021 on a virtual Microsoft Teams call.
The Keynote Speaker for the Final and Presenting The Winner will be The Pipeline Industries Guild President, John Murphy CEO of J Murphy & Sons.
The finalists will then deliver a 15-minute presentation on a subject of relevance to the pipelines industry whilst clearly demonstrating their own personal involvement. They must also be prepared to answer questions from the audience and judges for a further period of 5 minutes.
The competition winner will receive £250, the Carron Trophy and an invitation to the National Final. The runner will also receive £100.
Background and Objectives
The Pipeline Industries Guild is keen to promote opportunities and challenges of the Pipeline Industry as a potential career to a new generation of young people. This competition has been arranged to provide continuing professional development (CPD) to both entrants and audience members and is an excellent opportunity for young professionals to promote themselves and their company.

Eligibility
Entrants must be between 18 and 35 years of age. They must also be available to present their winning presentation at either a PIG Conference or to their local PIG Branch, to share details of their presentation in PIG publications and to present their experiences to help promote any future competitions.

At all stage’s marks shall be awarded for the following criteria:
- Relevance/potential benefit to the Pipeline Industry.
- Originality and professional content of material.
- Degree of personal involvement and depth of knowledge demonstrated in pecified area.
- Degree of personal involvement and depth of knowledge demonstrated in specified area.
- Quality and enthusiasm of presentation; excitement/engagement and time limits.
- Ability to deal with questions.

The judging panel making the final assessment shall comprise of key industry professionals, which may include representatives from outside of the Pipeline Industries Guild.
