Site visit - Hydrogen Research Facility - Loughborough University
The National Engineered Slope Simulator (NESS) at Loughborough University is a unique large-scale test facility designed to simulate the interaction between soil and buried infrastructure subjected to geohazards, which are becoming more frequent due to climate change. This facility can be used to simulate the structural response of buried pipelines and joints resulted from landslides and other events. It is also applicable for assessing risk management strategies for buried infrastructure and evaluating related mitigation procedures.
Loughborough University is the home to one of Europe's largest Green Hydrogen research groups and a high proportion of internationally respected centres of expertise engaged in Net Zero research and innovation with demonstrable commercial and societal impact (https://www.lboro.ac.uk/research/hydrogen). The site visit will show hydrogen research facilities at Loughborough University.
