Call for Entries! The Eastern Branch would like you to send in your synopses by 17th January 2022 for their Professional Development Network Paper Competition and you will need to be able to present on 17th February. You could be in with a chance to win £250 so take a look at the Guidelines.

CALL FOR PAPERS” DEADLINE FOR 250 WORD SYNOPSES: 17th January 2022

The Challenge: 

• Submit a written synopses by the 17th January 2022 on any subject associated with the pipeline industry including; Gas, Oil, Water, Health & Safety or Environment 

• Presentations are encouraged from all business functions and do not have to be engineering based.

• The objective of the competition is to develop presentation skills and enhance individuals profile within the pipeline industry. 

Process:

 • Each synopsis submitted will be evaluated by a panel of judges formed from the Eastern Branch Committee. Panel have the right to disqualify entries if they are over the 250 word limit. 

• Four synopses will be short-listed and individuals will be notified in January and asked to prepare a presentation surrounding their chosen topic.

 • Each individual will be expected to present for 15 minutes on their subject at the Pipeline Industries Guild Presentation Evening on Thursday 17th February to be held at Thorpe Wood House, Peterborough (whilst the aspiration is to hold the competition ‘face to face’ , it may be that it has to be held virtually and on-line via MS Teams or Zoom) . A 5 minute Q&A Session will be taken after each presentation.

 • The presentation will be marked against set criteria including: originality of topic; professionalism of the presenter, relevance of the topic; skill and knowledge imparted and timing.

 • The winner will qualify for The Pipeline Industries Guild Professional Development Network National Paper Competition in May 2022.

 Conditions of entry:

• Presentations can only be delivered by one person. 
• All entrants must be aged 35 or under. 
• No synopsis received after 17t January 2022 will be considered.
• Entrants must be able to present on 17th February 2022
• The winner will be announced at the St Georges Day lunch in April 2022 and will be eligible to take part in the national competition to be held at the Guild conference in May 2022.
