Diverting the water mains for HS2 – Jack Simmons, Kier

Hear from one of the engineers who has helped design and manage this challenging project.

Installing 1 m diameter ductile iron mains in busy London streets alongside some of the most expensive real estate in the UK could be considered a challenge. Add in a site office next to one of London's most popular tourist attractions and it gets even more complicated. Throw in several listed buildings, a school for special needs children, a barracks and numerous unmarked utilities, culverts and lumps of concrete which just may be hiding critical cables and life is never dull. Hear from one of the engineers who has helped design and manage this project.
