After Dinner Speaker - Johnny Nelson MBE

Johnny Nelson is a hugely charismatic and much-loved former professional boxer who has transitioned into a key pundit and host on Sky Sports' boxing coverage. Fighting out of his hometown of Sheffield, Johnny was trained by the legendary Brendan Ingle.

Known for his strategic approach of hitting and not getting hit, Johnny relied on his excellent reactions and natural strength to outmanoeuvre his opponents. He holds the distinction of being one of the longest-reigning Cruiserweight champions, defending his title 13 times over seven years. Over his career, he fought a total of 59 times, winning 45 bouts (29 by knockout) and drawing only twice. Competing with an orthodox stance, he also held the European and British Cruiserweight titles.

Johnny's impressive career saw him face the best of the best, earning him a reputation as a fine champion. Since retiring, he has remained a prominent figure in the boxing world. As the lead presenter on Ringside, Sky's weekly boxing show, Johnny continues to share his deep knowledge and passion for the sport. Additionally, he has devoted time to working with the prison service, helping inmates develop essential life management skills, further showcasing his commitment to making a positive impact both inside and outside the ring.
