SPA Site Visit - Net Zero Transition Panel

This site visit, organised by the Guild’s Net Zero Transition Panel, will allow participants to see the installation of a section of the Strategic Pipeline.

The Strategic Pipeline Alliance is delivering water for future generations across the Anglian Water region. By transferring between 15 and 55 million litres of water a day from the ‘wetter’ north of the region to the ‘drier’ south, the new pipeline and associated infrastructure (such as pumping stations, and storage reservoirs) is securing water for the future of Britain’s fastest growing region. This is one of the largest pipeline developments in Europe and a vital part of Anglian Water’s 25 year Water Resource Management Plan. It will also provide extensive resilience and environmental benefits, reducing abstraction from more vulnerable river catchments.

This site visit, organised by the Guild’s Net Zero Transition Panel, will allow participants to see the installation of a section of the Strategic Pipeline. There will also be a series of presentations to understand the work that Anglian Water is doing to reduce the carbon associated with the pipeline it builds and also a look to the future with the development of new reservoirs, water treatment works and the associated connecting pipework.
