The second part of this Lessons Learnt Phase 2 project reviews where gas networks have been decommissioned previously and what the impact of this was. The most notable example was the sizable Northern Ireland town gas networks, the last of which finally closed in 1993. It describes the approach taken and how it was funded, managed and viewed.Natural gas made its way to Northern Ireland later in the 1990' leaving a brand new gas network, which today is larger than in its town gas days.
The webinar also takes a high-level review of the transition of gas networks across Europe and where certain areas have moved, or are looking to move, towards further electrification.
This session follows on from the first part of the project, which explored commercial and industrial conversion from town gas to natural gas. Together, the two webinars provide a broader picture of past transitions and the lessons they offer for today. You will need to register for both webinars individually, LINK BELOW
