Another exclusive PIG members opportunity to see UK first-of-its-kind CCS pipeline in construction first hand and to contribute to the Panel's discussions, in which we share knowledge and recent successes in connection with a diverse range of Industrial Decarbonisation themes.
LBCCS is a UK first-of-its-kind Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) project, being developed by global energy company Eni with long-term UK Government financial support to help deliver industrial decarbonisation and clean growth. The project spans the UKs North-West and North Wales
regions and is set to capture, transport and store 4.5 million tonnes/yr of UK CO2 emissions by 2030, with potential to scale up to 10 million tonnes/ yr.
United Infrastructure – an established UK pipeline and utility network delivery specialist - was chosen as EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) Contractor to deliver the onshore pipelines component of LBCCS. This comprises 35km of new build CO2 pipelines and Above Ground Installations (AGIs) and 30km of re-purposed pipelines. Detailed Design is largely complete, the construction site established, trenchless crossings (routing under motorways, railways, and watercourses) progressing well, and mainline construction on the large diameter pipeline has been progressing at pace over the Summer.
