Yorkshire Water manage the collection, treatment and distribution of water, supplying around 1.24 billion litres of drinking water each day the equivalent of a glass of water for every person on the planet! The company also collects, treats, and disposesof about one billion litres of wastewater safely back into the environment each day. Through its grid system the company operates more than 700 water and sewage treatment works and 120 reservoirs, along with 86,000km of water and sewerage mains enoughpipework to circle the earth. Over the next five years, the company will spend almost ?1.5 billion to maintain and upgrade its pipes and works to reduce the risk of bursts, low water pressure, incidents of discolouration, sewer flooding,and odour problems.
